"The Week Of Ice Cream"

"Wear your bathing suit, we're going to the church... some white people are gonna dip you in some water..... I'll take you out to ice cream after!" -Mahamed (African-american investigator where i went on exchanges to visit his daughter)

Hey family!!! That was supposed to be my subject but it was too long ^^ haha!

This week FLEW! We had exchanges AND general conference this week! so i feel like this week didn't even happen!

Exchanges were super fun! I went to Saratoga with sister Curtis. We were both needing and deserving ice cream while i was there so we went to the store and got a carton of some-and ate the whole thing.... This week was kind of just full of ice cream though! Monday night, sister Stephens and i ate an entire carton of fro-yo and at least 6 members fed us ice cream too... then friday night we had a great night and felt like celebrating, so we got ice cream to eat during 12 week :) It was fun! But the previous week we did that fruits and veggies diet and i lost 4 lbs (its possible!!!!) and this week we will eat good (hopefully). I feel much more motivated, lol.

Anyway, this week, i was thinking a lot about planting seeds, and how often in missionary work, we don't know why we are talking to something or why the spirit prompts us to do certain things because most of the time nothing comes of it. But this week, when we were talking to John, he was telling us that the reason he was willing to talk to us was basically because he already had a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Two elders gave him a Book of Mormon in 1991, and they probably did not think that anything would come of that, they might have even thought to themselves that it was a waste of time or that they could've given that book to someone else. But because of that, he was willing to talk to us, and he LOVES everything we teach him (haven't got to word of wisdom yet). He is great though and it makes me love giving out copies of the Book of Mormon, or talking to people and having nothing come of it because i know that i just planted that seed!

On Thursday nights we always go over to the Behunins for dinner and this week brother Behunin asked me what my favorite dinner that my parents make is and I said lemon chicken so he made us lemon chicken and it was soooo yumm! and that just kicked off my first homesick weekend perfectly! :) haha. So Friday night i got homesick thinking about general conference and what my family was doing right then and stuff and i cried a little, then saturday i pulled it together and we watched conference at the church and stayed there allll day long! Literally we watched the first session, ate lunch there, watched second session, ward BBQ there, then they reshowed the relief society broadcast during priesthood! It was fun, but then saturday night i got so sad and i was laying in my bed and i was crying but i was trying to be quiet because i thought sister Stephens was asleep, then at like 10:45 i heard her sniffle, and i was like, "You ok?" and she was like "No, you?" and i said, "No" and we both just started BALLING! and we were just talking about why we were both homesick and stuff, and after about 20 minutes of that i said, "Sister, can we say a prayer?" and she said, "yeah, you say it though." so i said a prayer for our families and we prayed for everything we were worried about and for comfort and after the prayer we talked for about another minute and then we heard our neighbors below us outside yelling at each other, so we crawled over to the window and were watching them and long story short, he caught her cheating on him that night and was getting super mad and stuff, and it totally took our minds off of EVERYTHING and we layed back in our beds and were literally laughing for like a half hour straight then finally fell asleep. It was seriously the saddest night of my mission so far and we fell asleep laughing! It was so great. And sunday was amazing, we went and watched conference with some members and had lunch and dinner with them! It was so fun! Felt way more homey :) And during the second session, when we stood up and sang called to serve, i got super emotional thinking about how my brother (maybe) and my family were all standing and singing that at the same time and how much missionary work we are all involved in and how connected we all are through the spirit even though we are not together, i felt so close to you all. It was a cool moment for me.
Other than that, we had a great week, we taught a few lessons and we saw a lot of less actives and had some really neat experiences!

I hope everyone had a fantastic conference weekend
I have been telling everyone here for the past two weeks how excited i was for conference and how conference is my "Favorite holiday" and it was so funny! But it really is :) And i am so grateful for awesome parents who always made General Conference something to look forward to. I realize that most people do not have that same excitement.

I love you all! Thanks for the mail, it makes me so happy!

Love, Sister Davis :)
