"I Have A Child And I Was Screaming For My Mommy" -Joselyn talking about kidney stones lol‏

Hello People I love and miss,
Sounds like you had a fun week! Thats so funny about Brad raising his hand after he got his wisdom teeth out! haha i can totally see it :) So great.
Oh my heck i want to see a picture of Cami and Heather and Derek all dressed up! Sounds like it was way cute!
That's so cool that you all got to see Tay! Next time tell her she has to go to church for me :) She sends me lot's of letters, i love them :)
So good to hear the missionary update! i wish we had more people that would come teach with us here! We have two that come a lot! But not really anyone else. Its great though.
Oh! I got a package from the Matos family! It was sooooo great! and perfect timing because we were running out of food ;) I am excited to write them back! so sweet. I also got a letter from aunt cherie that had me rolling! haha. She died her hair purple :) thats great. Hmm, who else, i got one from Tay. :) I love mailllll :)
This week was longgg, I don't even know why! but it was awesome at the same time :)
We have an investigator getting baptized in a couple weeks! His name is Tye and he is 9 years old :) He has two younger siblings (Leah, 7 and Isaiah, 5). I think i have sent you pictures of them. They were the kids in all of the pictures from the pumpkin carving night. They are so cute and SO fun to teach! I was telling sister Stephens how much more comfortable i feel when there are kids around! I just love kids and it is sooo hard not to hold them and play with them and be silly with them all the time, but we still have fun. But i really think that because i know how to deal with kids and calm them down and talk to them that it helps our lessons with them go a lot smoother. It would be a lot harder if i didn't know how to work with kids... which i'm kinda good at... :)
On tuesday, we went to Joselyn's Boyfriends house for dinner, and it was SO great!! They are so much fun. And her Boyfriends parents are super Christian (and they came to her baptism last week) and they had so many questions! It was awesome. After leaving that night sister Stephens and i decided that they would be such strong members!! Someday.. :)
Ok, funniest thing ever... Every month our Zone leaders text us and ask us for our supply order for the month, and last month when they texted us, i was just being silly and i said, "BOM's, Restoration DVD's, Planners, Sweet Potatos, Bananas, and Toothpaste". And then on Wednesday they came to our district meeting to give us supplies and they just put the bag on our car and as we were leaving sister Stephens and i went and looked in it and there were BOM's, Restoration DVD's, Planners, a sweet potato, a couple bananas, and toothpaste.... and we were DYING!!!!! hahaha. At first i was like "did they accidently give us their groceries?? then sister stephens reminded me what we said last time and i started laughing so hard! But we decided next month when they ask we're going to go big and ask for laundry soap and walnuts (the two most expensive things we buy) haha.

Speaking of buying food.. we haven't in a while. We bought a rug and comforters for our beds a couple weeks ago, and they reimburse us for that stuff, but our district leader forgot to give our receipts to Elder Cutler when he went to Utica and so we haven't been reimbursed yet so we are flat broke... i have had $4 and sister stephens has had $0.01 in our accounts for a week now... so we don't get to go grocery shopping today hahaha. Kind of a bummer. but o well... we'll lose weight this week probably ;) haha

Friday was crazy! We taught a lot of lessons that day!!! It was fun though. and that night i got super homesick, well, not homesick, i just missed my sister a lot. It was weird cuz i didn't miss anyone else really (not that i don't love you all... cuz i do). It was weird though!
Saturday night, this is what i wrote in my journal, "Sister Stephens just blew up our microwave. no more popcorn :( and it stinks. So she had to open the windows, and now i'm cold. I'm going to go put my footie pajamas on. Ok that's better. it still smells."

Yesterday we went to Mary's for dinner, people tell us all the time not to eat over there because it probably isn't the safest thing, but she is so sweet and we love her and she invites us so we do. But for lunch, she made us pasta with (not cooked) canned potatos, and miracle whip and relish..... it was rough on my tummy. and sister stephens tummy too. Yuck. Oh my heck, and in Mary's prayer last night, she said, "I'm thankful i didn't have 5 kids to put through college" and sister Stephens and i were laughing so hard (it was just random, she has 2 kids i think..) and it was at a random part in the prayer too.. hahahaha!

And last night sister Stephens ended up getting sick, she got a migrane so she took a nap and i read the fourth missionary, it worked out perfect because i had been dying to read it but just didn't have time. :) But she was not feeling good at all :( We just relaxed the rest of the night, and did massages and stuff. Have i told you about our massages? Every night, we give each other back massages for 7 minutes each before we go to bed, and it helps us sleep. Before we were both having a hard time falling asleep at night, and with these, we are so relaxed and tired it works perfectly (kind of like when i used to ask mom to scratch my back til i fell asleep... :) haha.
Oh and we have another baptism in two weeks, her name is Caitlin :) She is so cute! I love her to death, and this baptism is long overdue. She is 17 and her sister is a convert, and she has been investigating for about 2 years now! She is so excited :) and so am i!! :)
Well familia, this was a very jumbled letter!
I hope everyone has a fantastic week!
Dont forget to write your favorite missionary in vermont :)
LOVE YOU ALL!
Sister Davis :)

"He says he wants to come to the Mormon church.. i don't know why though" -Mary Lou (a member)

I am attaching pictures of Joselyn's baptism, and Kiera's hair...(its not that short. I love it!)
Just to tell you what she did, on Saturday I got an envelope from her, kind of thick, and ont he outside it said, "Don't freak out!" and I opened it and there was a whole ziploc full of hair! She is too funny! She is doing the work and having fun... Love it!

Happy Monday!

Hi everyone!
Family, it sounds like you've been having a great week!!! That's so fun that you've got to see lots of relatives :) Give them hugs for me :)

THIS WEEK WAS SO GREAT!!! Oh my heck i feel like such a missionary right now haha.

We had our first baptism on Friday! It went so great! It was seriously the most amazing thing ever. Joselyn is so great. It's so funny though because she thinks it's so weird that people cry when they feel the spirit sometimes, and the gal that was giving the talk on the Holy Ghost got pretty emotional and like in the middle of her thought, Joselyn said, "do you need a hug?" it was so great. And before she got baptized, she was super nervous, but after while she was getting dressed i asked her if she felt happy and she said, "Happy as in i can't stop smiling?" and sister Stephens and i just got emotional and were just so happy for her. It was amazing! And then on Sunday, she recieved the gift of the Holy Ghost....barely! She got there 7 minutes before the meeting ended. Luckily our branch president was speaking and went a little late haha. But it was SO good :)

And something so cute about Joselyn... when she feels the spirit, she smiles. She doesn't get emotional or shakey or anything, she just gets the cutest ear to ear grin on her face and can't stop. I love it :) and her :)

We also have three more people on schedule to be baptized in November so hopefully we have a few more soon! two of those i am 110% sure will happen :)
Ok, so being that i am a missionary and can not do crazy stuff all the time kinda drives me insane sometimes. Tuesday night was one of those times... so i let my companion (who has never cut hair) cut 13 INCHES off of my hair... surprise :) haha. It was fun. I miss my long hair, but this is just sooooo much easier! It's not me, but it's missionary me. CALL ME CRAZY! I like it though!
This week, i got a letter from Taylor Dahlberg!! :) and i got one from Jard and Lard and i got the funniest letter from Jake haha! oh my heck i was about to pee myself it was so funny. (missionary life: laughing at everything). And i got a couple from mom and a package with a blanket in it because it is SO COLD Here!!!!!!!

Ok so this might be one of those had to be there stories, but it was seriously the funniest thing on the planet. So Wednesday was just a long day, and when we got home we were soooo tired. It was one of those days where we fell asleep during companion prayer haha. So we went to bed at like 9:45 and our district leader called us at 10:00 and it woke us both up and i just was so confused and i said, "WHO COULD BE CALLING AT THIS HOUR??" and sister Stephens was like "it's our district leader" and she answered and was talking to him and i basically just rolled over and closed my eyes again and then a minute later i hear her say, "ya, sister Davis, what do you think?" and i was just like "good" and she started laughing lol. Then she hung up and like 5 minutes later (right as we fell back asleep)...Our district leader texts us (we have a loud text tone), and i was just like, "you've got to be kidding me." and sister stephens just laughed and said, "you're getting it this time" lol. and we still didnt go to bed until like 10:30... so much for that! haha. I was sooooo tired though, and you all know how out of it i am when i'm tired... it was great lol. and the next morning i asked sister stephens if that all really happened and she said yes. lol

Yesterday was so good. We had a great turn out at church!! There were almost 70 people there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was seriously the most exciting thing ever. We figured there was a great turn out because sister stephens and i spoke :) haha. Being a missionary means last minute talks... not my favorite thing ever, but it was fun haha. At least we both were super unprepared haha. But really there were so many people. It's like all of our investigators and all of the less actives got together and decided they were all going to wait until then to come. It was a great meeting :)
I am so excited for this week! We are focusing mainly on John, Caitlin, and Tye, because they all have baptism dates coming up. I am way excited for all of them!! It's going to be busy and crazy though! but Bring It On!
love you all so much! Keep writing :)
-Sister Davis!

"I'm teaching Shadaya (her cat) how to become more like a lady" -Mary‏

Hola Mi Familia :)
This week was so CRAZY!
I got your package mom! Thank you, I've already eaten almost all of the soup, it's so yummy! :) and i got letters from Grandma and Grandpa, Aunt Nette, and Leah! :) Hey Leah, next time you should put a stamp on your letter ;)

So guess what? WE HAVE A BAPTISM ON FRIDAY :D and i am so so so excited!! :) Her name is Joselyn, i don't know how much i have told you all about her, but she is so great! She is 18 years old and has a little 18 month old daughter, Mercedes, and they are just the cutest. She always tells us how it has always been her dream to get baptized, and i am just so excited the day is finally here. :)

Sister Stephens and i have realized that planning for a baptism is a little stressful when you only have a couple of days to do so, and so we have been doing de-stressing exercises! haha.. I'll attach a picture :) lol.

OH! I have something exciting! So last week our zone leaders called us and said, "we have a new way of doing missionary work that we are going to start in our zone" and the new idea is to work more with college students! We have three colleges in our area, and we visited two of them last week! (One of them is called Southern Vermont University-LOOK IT UP! Seriously the most beautiful college i have seen in my entire life, it is an old mansion made into a college, SO COOL!). So with this new idea, Sister Stephens and i are going to start teaching institute! It will be so fun! We have one member who goes to one of the colleges, and Joselyn will be our 2nd member there lol. So we will have to advertise it and find a way to get lots of college students there! It's going to be a lot of work and it will take a lot of effort and reaching out, but i am excited! I think it will be so so fun!

Saturday was such a good day! We took John and Joselyn, Mercedes, and Cory (Joselyn's BF), to a baptism in Saratoga! It was so cool and made Joselyn so much more excited!! The night before we called John to invite him to the baptism and he was SO excited and the next day when he got to the church he was disappointed when he found out it wasn't HIS baptism lol. It was pretty funny, needless to say, he is excited to be baptized, but we need to teach him word of wisdom first which will delay that a tad, but it will happen! :) Then after the baptism, we stopped by Stewart's on the way home and got some ice cream and we all went back to the church building and had a little ice cream party (my idea:) and we showed Joselyn the font and let her try on jumpsuits (SO FUNNY- she almost decided not to get baptized because of how "plain and boring" the jumpsuits are hahaha.) It was fun though, and then Sunday was her third week at church, and last night she had her interview and now we are just about ready to go crazy planning it :)

This week i hit a point (on Sunday) where being a missionary really hit me! It was really cool. It was when we were at a members house eating lunch and one of them said, "Sister Davis" and i just thought how they know nothing about me, but because i have my name tag they know all they need to know to invite me into their home and to love me. And it's so weird how no one knows my first name! When i say my first name or when i read it, my first thought is, "oh, i know someone with that name!.. oh wait.." lol. It feels weird, But i like it :)
Well everyone! I love you all! Have a great week!!
LOVE, Sister Davis!! :)

"The Week Of Ice Cream"

"Wear your bathing suit, we're going to the church... some white people are gonna dip you in some water..... I'll take you out to ice cream after!" -Mahamed (African-american investigator where i went on exchanges to visit his daughter)

Hey family!!! That was supposed to be my subject but it was too long ^^ haha!

This week FLEW! We had exchanges AND general conference this week! so i feel like this week didn't even happen!

Exchanges were super fun! I went to Saratoga with sister Curtis. We were both needing and deserving ice cream while i was there so we went to the store and got a carton of some-and ate the whole thing.... This week was kind of just full of ice cream though! Monday night, sister Stephens and i ate an entire carton of fro-yo and at least 6 members fed us ice cream too... then friday night we had a great night and felt like celebrating, so we got ice cream to eat during 12 week :) It was fun! But the previous week we did that fruits and veggies diet and i lost 4 lbs (its possible!!!!) and this week we will eat good (hopefully). I feel much more motivated, lol.

Anyway, this week, i was thinking a lot about planting seeds, and how often in missionary work, we don't know why we are talking to something or why the spirit prompts us to do certain things because most of the time nothing comes of it. But this week, when we were talking to John, he was telling us that the reason he was willing to talk to us was basically because he already had a testimony of the Book of Mormon. Two elders gave him a Book of Mormon in 1991, and they probably did not think that anything would come of that, they might have even thought to themselves that it was a waste of time or that they could've given that book to someone else. But because of that, he was willing to talk to us, and he LOVES everything we teach him (haven't got to word of wisdom yet). He is great though and it makes me love giving out copies of the Book of Mormon, or talking to people and having nothing come of it because i know that i just planted that seed!

On Thursday nights we always go over to the Behunins for dinner and this week brother Behunin asked me what my favorite dinner that my parents make is and I said lemon chicken so he made us lemon chicken and it was soooo yumm! and that just kicked off my first homesick weekend perfectly! :) haha. So Friday night i got homesick thinking about general conference and what my family was doing right then and stuff and i cried a little, then saturday i pulled it together and we watched conference at the church and stayed there allll day long! Literally we watched the first session, ate lunch there, watched second session, ward BBQ there, then they reshowed the relief society broadcast during priesthood! It was fun, but then saturday night i got so sad and i was laying in my bed and i was crying but i was trying to be quiet because i thought sister Stephens was asleep, then at like 10:45 i heard her sniffle, and i was like, "You ok?" and she was like "No, you?" and i said, "No" and we both just started BALLING! and we were just talking about why we were both homesick and stuff, and after about 20 minutes of that i said, "Sister, can we say a prayer?" and she said, "yeah, you say it though." so i said a prayer for our families and we prayed for everything we were worried about and for comfort and after the prayer we talked for about another minute and then we heard our neighbors below us outside yelling at each other, so we crawled over to the window and were watching them and long story short, he caught her cheating on him that night and was getting super mad and stuff, and it totally took our minds off of EVERYTHING and we layed back in our beds and were literally laughing for like a half hour straight then finally fell asleep. It was seriously the saddest night of my mission so far and we fell asleep laughing! It was so great. And sunday was amazing, we went and watched conference with some members and had lunch and dinner with them! It was so fun! Felt way more homey :) And during the second session, when we stood up and sang called to serve, i got super emotional thinking about how my brother (maybe) and my family were all standing and singing that at the same time and how much missionary work we are all involved in and how connected we all are through the spirit even though we are not together, i felt so close to you all. It was a cool moment for me.
Other than that, we had a great week, we taught a few lessons and we saw a lot of less actives and had some really neat experiences!

I hope everyone had a fantastic conference weekend
I have been telling everyone here for the past two weeks how excited i was for conference and how conference is my "Favorite holiday" and it was so funny! But it really is :) And i am so grateful for awesome parents who always made General Conference something to look forward to. I realize that most people do not have that same excitement.

I love you all! Thanks for the mail, it makes me so happy!

Love, Sister Davis :)
